Contagious Hair 1000 Subscribers Contest & Give-a-way!!!


Hi lovelies,


So today is the day I finally get to announce my very first contest, woo hoo! I've been waiting for the day that I reached 1,000 subscribers on You Tube and I finally made it! At this point, I'm actually a tee bit over 1,000 but who's counting? lol. To celebrate and to show my appreciation to my subscribers I am doing a contest and give-a-way that feature some great prizes. I really can't express how awesome you guys are! From the well wishes to the words of encouragement, you all rock! Thank you so much!!

The Contest


  • I want you to teach me something new! Make a tutorial video showing me how to create a simple look of hair & makeup. I will be recreating the winning looks in future Youtube Videos

  • Be creative! But be yourself! Showcase your style, not someone elses

  • There are no limitations. You can showcase your nails and outfit as well but only the hair & makeup will be judged. You can use wigs, weave, color, ect. Just make sure it is something I can get if need be


Rules and Requirements


  • You must be a subscriber of my youtube page - I will check :).
  • You must leave "Contest - ....." comment under the contest video to tell me that you are participating. (ex. Contest - count me in!)
  • Contest entry must be a video or picture tutorial showing me step by step how & what is used to create your look
  • Post your entry as a video response to my contest video with "Contagious Hair" somewhere in the title
  • This must be your own work!
  • Under 18? - Check with moms & pops first!
  • Outside of U.S.? - You pay shipping if you win.... Sorry :(




Deadlines


  • You have 2 weeks to post your video response and leave a comment to tell me you're participating. The deadline is 11:59pm on March 16th, 2009.

  • I post a video announcement of the winners by March 20th, 2009. This will give me enough time to review the videos and hopefully start recreating the winning looks for the announcement video.


Prizes


  • I will have 3 winners: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. At least one of the three winners will go to someone who may not be an expert at hair and makeup, but someone who will still make a great effort. This is to encourage those of you who might not think you have the skills to enter...I guarantee at least one makeup/hair newbie will win.

Did I mention......


that I'm a new mommie :)

Some of you may notice that I haven't been very consistent with my YT postings and believe me, it is harder than you think. I am really trying to stay on top of all the requests and keep you guys up to date with the latest but never did I realize that YT is like another job, lol.

Nevertheless, the main reason I've been behind the scene's lately is because I was pregnant and placed on bedrest the past couple of months. But it all paid off because on 2/22 my prince was born. He is sooooo adorable and I just love him so so much I can't even stand it. So yes I am still out of commission for a while because I really need to focus on him and my health but hopefully I will be able to start servicing my clients again in a few weeks which mean more hair tutorial videos.

Contagious Hair YT 1000 Subscriber Contest

Hey lovelies,

I'm on a roll today huh? lol. Anyhoo.....

I have an important announcement to make. As you know, my youtube channel is growing and I just can't help but to be excited!!! As of this posting I have 946 subscribers. Now this isn't no where near what I have seen on some youtubers channels.... 5,000; 10,000' 50,000 but I love all my babies and to show my appreciation I have decided to host my first contest once I reach 1,000 subbies.

Now I'm still trying to decide on what type of contest to have and all the details but I can tell you this. The contest will have 3 winners and is open to everyone 18 years of age or older, worldwide.

The contest will of course start once I reach 1000 subscribers on youtube and will be open for a total of 2 weeks. Makeup for newbies Intro

Hey lovelies,

If you are following my YT channel you may know that I am venturing off into the wonderful world of makeup. Now those of you who do not know, I have never really been into makeup. I was your basic mascara, eyeliner, lip gloss, and blush gal. Being on YT has opened my world up to so many new things and I am truly thankful for that.

So I decided to start a Makeup for newbies vlog. I have no idea what this will turn into actually but I know right now it will just be me vlogging my journey into makeup. The vlog is of course catered to individuals who are new to make up themselves and just want to learn the basics. But I hope and pray that some vets of make up will chime in and participate. I want this vlog to really cater to those just like me.... a person who has no idea what all those damn make up brushes are for, what a skin undertone is and how can we find out, the difference between foundations, concealor, powders, and which color is right for us.

So if you are new to make up, make sure you subscribe to my YT channel because Shamis is on the job and I am determined to get the 411! I've already learned so much in just the few days I've been researching and I can't wait to share.

Allow me to re-introduce myself.... My name is......

Hey Lovelies!

I know... I know... I'm all over the place, lol. I have a few vids on YT and no introduction and now I've started blogging with no intro. To be honest, I really don't like talking about myself because it seems self-serving at times but at the same time, you guys want to know about the person your reading/watching right? So here goes...

Shamis is the name.... and hair is my game, lol. I love hair! I mean I really looooooooovvvve hair. I love the look on my client's faces when they raise up from my chair. I love transforming individuals and giving them a new look and feel. When my clients leave my chair, they feel brand new, beautiful, and have a swagger {Swagger (swag) - a positive self esteem or attitude one processes} that just exudes.

I love to teach and paying it forward. I have had sooooo many people (clients, stylists, ect.) ask me why I'm so different than other stylists. Why is it that I am so open with my skills and others are not. Well I never could really answer that question. I believe it is a mix of my free spirit, how I was raised, my beliefe in GOD, that bad girl Karma, and the fact that so many people I "felt" would be great mentors were not.

My father always stressed the importance of having multiple streams of income so let's just say I have a few skills under my belt :D I am certified in a number of weaving, extensions, and hair replacement techniques; I have my own line of luxury remy hair extensions, I am a credit/debt restoration specialist, I am the #1 online distributor for Gro Protect Solutions, and I dabble a little in web/graphic design.

I hope you find whatever information I share useful and you can benefit from it in one way or another. And please, please feel free to share what you know. I promise I will NOT take it personal or challenging. We are all here to learn and that is what I am here for as well.

My Makeup Vanity/Computer Desk :)

I had seen a couple of YT videos of some beautiful makeup rooms and vanities. I immediately fell in love with the decor and ambiance of these rooms. Since I am venturing off into the wonderful world of face art, I decided that a good start would be with my very own make up vanity.

Since space is limited in my home, I had to also convert my vanity into a computer desk is well. Check out my creative approach :)
